Softball Recap: West Jessamine Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but West Jessamine ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They won by a run and slipped past the Edmonson County Wildcats 6-5. The win was familiar territory for the Colts, who have now won three matchups in a row.

The team relied heavily on Paige Hobgood, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Emerson Collier was another key player, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.

West Jessamine's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Edmonson County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-6 record this season.

West Jessamine will challenge Paducah Tilghman at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Colts 4, the Blue Tornado 4) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Edmonson County, they are taking a road trip to challenge Hart County at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday. The Raiders have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.75 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
