Football Game Preview: Meadowbrook Monarchs vs. Thomas Dale Knights

Meadowbrook hasn't had much luck against Thomas Dale recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Monarchs will be playing at home against the Knights at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Thomas Dale will take on a team with plenty of momentum: Meadowbrook extended their winning streak to four on Thursday. The Monarchs simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Hopewell 48-13. While the Monarchs didn't have the best season last year (they finished 3-7), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Meadowbrook found their leader in sophomore Dashaun Chisem, who threw for 284 yards and four touchdowns while completing 76.2% of his passes.

One reason for the win was Meadowbrook's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Kevin Brown, Ben Baker, and Cayden Thompson, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Thomas Dale). They claimed a resounding 35-7 victory over Prince George. The Knights haven't had any issues with the Royals recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Thomas Dale's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Meadowbrook, their win bumped their record up to an identical 4-0.

Meadowbrook suffered a grim 42-21 defeat to Thomas Dale in their previous meeting back in October of 2024. Can the Monarchs avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
