Softball Recap: Wetumpka Makes It 32 in a Row at Home

Wetumpka came tearing into Wednesday's game with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 10 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Calera Eagles by a score of 7-3. That's more bragging rights for the Indians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sophie Arant spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Bailey Carlise was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Lily Davenport was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Wetumpka pushed their record up to 22-2 with the victory, which was their 32nd straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Calera, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-12.

Wetumpka wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 7-5 defeat against Dothan on the 14th. As for Calera, they will take on Pelham at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
