Last Saturday, Fort Bend Kempner was the victim of a tough 49-27 loss at the hands of Terry.
Fort Bend Kempner's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Grayson Green, who threw for 285 yards and four touchdowns, and Mario James who picked up 112 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, Angleton was not quite Magnolia West's equal in the second half on Friday. Angleton fell just short of Magnolia West by a score of 10-7. Having soared to a lofty 49 points in the game before, Angleton couldn't push the score so high this time.
Elijah Simmons put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 127 yards and a touchdown. Simmons really tore up the turf during one magnificent 71-yard run.
Fort Bend Kempner's defeat was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-9. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.9 points per game. As for Angleton, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-4.
Fort Bend Kempner took a serious blow against Angleton in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 45-7. Thankfully for Fort Bend Kempner, Deseahn Thomas (who rushed for 83 yards and four touchdowns on only nine carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
