Preview: Hammond Golden Bears vs. Mt. Hebron Vikings
After two games on the road, Hammond is heading back home. They will take on the Mt. Hebron Vikings at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Hammond put the finishing touches on their 12th blowout victory of the season on Friday. They blew past Long Reach, posting a 47-10 victory on the road. The squad ran away with 39 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the win.
Hammond got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Asia Mitchell out in front who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nia Green, who scored ten points along with eight assists and six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mt. Hebron didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Glenelg on Wednesday, but they still walked away with a 42-36 win.
Hammond pushed their record up to 18-0 with that win, which was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Mt. Hebron, they now have a winning record of 8-7.
Hammond strolled past Mt. Hebron in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 45-29. Does Hammond have another victory up their sleeve, or will Mt. Hebron turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
