Dickson County is 9-1 against Northwest since March of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Dickson County will host Northwest at 6:00 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Dickson County lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Fairview, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's match. Dickson County never let Fairview get on the board and left with a 9-0 victory on Friday. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Kailey Beene was excellent, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Audrey Burr, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Northwest ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 17-8 margin over West Creek. With that win, the Vikings brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Gracie Scudder and May Barnholtz made a splash while hitting and pitching. Throwing, Scudder tossed 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Meanwhile, Barnholtz tossed 2.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Scudder has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. At the plate, Scudder scored a run while going 1-for-6, while Barnholtz scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-4. Those stolen bases were Barnholtz's first of the season.
In other batting news, Nazaret Garcia was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Karena Frost was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.
Northwest kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since back in March of 2024.
Dickson County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.8 runs over those games. The win made it two in a row for Northwest and bumps their season record up to 3-5.
Dickson County took their victory against Northwest in their previous matchup back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 15-1. Does Dickson County have another victory up their sleeve, or will Northwest turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
