Baseball Game Preview: More Knights vs. Summit Tahoma Tigers

The More Knights will square off against the Summit Tahoma Tigers at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. More will be strutting in after a victory while Summit Tahoma will be coming in after a defeat.

On Friday, More beat North Valley Baptist 8-4.

Vinny Selway made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because More is 4-2 when he allows at most one walk, but 3-6 otherwise. Selway was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances. Those two runs gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Zep Cortese and Quentin Vogel did most of the damage at the plate: Cortese scored a run and stole two bases while going 3-for-3, while Vogel scored a run and stole three bases while going 2-for-2. Cortese has become a key player for More: the team is 3-1 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Easton Selway, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases and one RBI.

More kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Summit Tahoma was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 12-0 to Design Tech.

Summit Tahoma's defeat dropped their record down to 0-7. As for More, their win bumped their record up to 7-8.
