Softball Recap: Palestine Starts off Right with Win over Tyler

Palestine had to kick off their season on the road on Tuesday, but they showed no ill effects. They were the clear victor by a 32-2 margin over the Tyler Lions.

Amber McKenzie made a splash no matter where she played. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring four runs and stealing five bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubriyanna Stubblefield, who scored four runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. Ashby Hughes was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

Palestine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .881. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tyler only posted an OBP of .500.

Palestine wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 10-0 loss against Kerens on the 13th. As for Tyler, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, an 11-0 defeat against Como-Pickton on the 13th.
