Westminster entered their tilt with Manchester Valley on Wednesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They came out on top against the Manchester Valley Mavericks by a score of 46-37. Given the Owls' advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 24th, while the Mavericks are ranked 85th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the loss, Manchester Valley saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Taylor Fique almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. Fique is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Lilah Kresslein was another key player, putting up nine points.

Westminster's win was their seventh straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-2. As for Manchester Valley, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-6.

Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Francis Scott Key the next time they take the court. Westminster will head out to face Francis Scott Key on Wednesday, while Manchester Valley will host them at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
