Recap: Manteo Redskins vs. Pasquotank County Panthers
The Manteo Redskins's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They fell 38-28 to Pasquotank County. Manteo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Pasquotank County apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2023.
Manteo lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Sydnee Ballance, who scored 17 points along with nine rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Ballance pulled down eight or more rebounds. CC Lowe was another key contributor, scoring two points along with 14 rebounds.
It was another big night for Anylah Bowe, who dropped a triple-double on 17 points, 17 rebounds, and 13 blocks for Pasquotank County. That makes it five consecutive games in which Bowe has scored at least a third of Pasquotank County's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Trinity Brooks, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Manteo's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Pasquotank County, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10.
Manteo will square off against Northeastern at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northeastern presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Manteo in North Carolina (Northeastern is ranked 98th, while Manteo is ranked 385th). As for Pasquotank County, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against First Flight at 6:00 p.m.
