Baseball Game Preview: Greensburg Pirates vs. Batesville Bulldogs

Greensburg hasn't had much luck against Batesville recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Pirates will square off against the Bulldogs at 5:30 p.m. Greensburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

Greensburg is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. Everything went their way against South Dearborn as they made off with a 9-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Pirates in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won five in a row.

Lance Coy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on one hit and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Joey Everroad was excellent, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI. Zayden Miller was another key player, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, Batesville came tearing into Saturday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.5 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with an 8-3 win over the Panthers.

Greensburg's victory bumped their record up to 16-7. As for Batesville, their win bumped their record up to 21-5.
