Baseball Preview: Garfield Bulldogs vs. Ballard Beavers

Garfield and Ballard are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2016, but likely not for long. The Garfield Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Ballard Beavers at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Last Wednesday, while Garfield put up some runs, the same can't be said for Franklin. Garfield came out on top against Franklin by a score of 3-0 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). After a 20-0 finish the last time they played, Garfield and Franklin decided to play a little more cautiously this time around.

Meanwhile, Ballard scored the most runs they've had all season to find success on Wednesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Nathan Hale 9-7.

Adam Tripp made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing six innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off nine hits. Tripp was even better at the plate, going 2-for-4 with a home run, five RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Dylan Wallblom was excellent, going 2-for-4 with a home run. Another player making a difference was Chase Edwards, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Garfield's record is now 3-11. As for Ballard, they pushed their record up to 9-4 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Garfield skirted past Ballard 5-4 in their previous meeting back in April of 2023. The rematch might be a little tougher for Garfield since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
