Volleyball Game Preview: Los Gatos Wildcats vs. Monta Vista Matadors

Los Gatos hasn't had much luck against Monta Vista recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Wildcats will take on the Matadors at 6:45 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Los Gatos took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Monday. They came out on top against Homestead by a score of 3-1.

Los Gatos had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 21-25, 25-19, 25-13, 25-23.

Meanwhile, Monta Vista entered their tilt with Homestead on Tuesday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Mustangs. The game was the first time the Matadors have beaten the Mustangs on their court since March 15, 2024.

The win didn't come easy: Homestead scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-18, 21-25, 25-22, 26-24.

Monta Vista's victory bumped their record up to 19-10. As for Los Gatos, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season.

Los Gatos took their win against Monta Vista in their previous meeting on April 4th by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
