Basketball Recap: Lakeside Christian's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

After a string of four wins, Lakeside Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 38-22 bruising from the Bishop McLaughlin Catholic Hurricanes.

Despite the defeat, Lakeside Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Ayva David almost dropped a double-double on nine boards and ten steals. David is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least three every time she's taken the court this season.

It was another big night for Aliana Arana, who almost dropped a triple-double on 16 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic. That's the most boards Arana has posted since back in January of 2024. Another player making a difference was Marley Weaver, who posted 13 points in addition to six rebounds and four steals.

Lakeside Christian's loss dropped their record down to 6-8. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-4.

Lakeside Christian will welcome Gulf Coast HEAT at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gulf Coast HEAT's defense has only allowed 27.1 points per game this season, so Lakeside Christian's offense will have their work cut out for them. As for Bishop McLaughlin Catholic, they will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Indian Rocks Christian at 4:30 p.m. Bishop McLaughlin Catholic is facing Indian Rocks Christian at the right time seeing as Indian Rocks Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak.
