Baseball Recap: Mazama's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Mazama had to endure a five-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. Everything went their way against the Bonanza Antlers on Tuesday as they made off with a 15-5 victory. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Vikings considering their one-run performance the matchup before.

Jonny Ladner looked comfortable as he tossed 3.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, Kellan Lee and Mason Snell did most of the damage at the plate: Lee scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances, while Snell scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Snell is becoming a predictor of Mazama's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 0-6 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Jayden Justice, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Mazama's win bumped their record up to 3-6. As for Bonanza, their defeat was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-7.

Looking ahead, Mazama will be playing at home against Modoc at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Bonanza, they will head out to square off against Illinois Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
