Baseball Recap: Torres Extends Road Winning Streak to Seven

Torres took a eight-run defeat the last time they faced off against Maywood CES, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Toros came out on top in a nail-biter against the Wolfpack on Friday, sneaking past 2-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Toros have posted against the Wolfpack since April 5, 2022.

Angel Tostado spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up nine Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Torres saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Abraham Cardenas, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Cardenas is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last 12 games he's played.

Torres' win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Maywood CES, their loss ended a five-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-8.

Torres didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next match, a 4-1 defeat against Marquez on the 28th. As for Maywood CES, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-0 win against Maywood Academy on the 28th.
