Baseball Game Preview: Quartz Hill Royals vs. Antelope Valley Antelopes

Quartz Hill has gone a perfect 10-0 against Antelope Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Wednesday. The Royals will be playing at home against the Antelopes at 3:15 p.m. The timing is sure in Quartz Hill's favor as the squad sits on eight straight wins at home while Antelope Valley has been banged up by 13 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season.

On Saturday, Quartz Hill got the win against Windward by a conclusive 15-1. The Royals might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

Christopher Lozano looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He is becoming a predictor of Quartz Hill's success: when he allows at most three hits the team is undefeated (and 8-10 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Zach Dizon, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two RBI gave him a new career-high. Austin Wood was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.

Quartz Hill was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .433. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Highland hit Antelope Valley with a four-run sixth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Antelopes lost 13-3 to the Bulldogs.

Antelope Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Glover, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base. Another was Jackson Williams, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one double and one RBI.

Quartz Hill has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Antelope Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-13.

Quartz Hill took their win against Antelope Valley when the teams last played back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Royals repeat their success, or do the Antelopes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
