Basketball Game Preview: Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers vs. Pikesville Panthers

Having just played yesterday, the Archbishop Spalding Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the Pikesville Panthers at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Archbishop Spalding came up short against St. Frances Academy on Friday, falling 51-26. While losing is never fun, the Cavaliers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 95th, while the Panthers are ranked seventh).

Meanwhile, Pikesville took their match on Friday with ease, bagging a 68-20 win over Western Tech & Environmental Science. The contest marked the Panthers' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Pikesville's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points per game. As for Archbishop Spalding, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-10 record this season.

Archbishop Spalding came up short against Pikesville when the teams last played back in January of 2019, falling 55-44. Can Archbishop Spalding avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
