Basketball Recap: Belmont Comes Up Short

Belmont lost against Taft back in November of 2021 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Belmont Bison took a 38-27 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Taft Senators. The Bison just can't catch a break and have now endured three losses in a row.

Despite the defeat, Belmont saw an underclassman step up: freshman Mashayla Valentine posted 23 points in addition to six steals and five boards. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Valentine has scored all season.

Belmont's record now sits at 1-7. As for Taft, their victory ended a ten-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 1-3.

Belmont wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 51-20 loss against Cincinnati College Prep Academy on the 23rd. Taft and Varsity Opponent will round out the year against one another at at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
