Softball Recap: Roosevelt's Win on Monday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Roosevelt waltzed into their match on Monday with two straight wins... but they left with three. Everything went their way against the Edsel Ford Thunderbirds as they made off with a 14-1 victory. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 back in April.

Shaylan Gourlay made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Gourlay was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times she's played.

In other batting news, Roosevelt got a massive performance out of Brooklyn Chlipala, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Chlipala is also on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Jordan Passuth, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Roosevelt was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .458 or higher in three consecutive games.

Roosevelt's record is now 16-7. As for Edsel Ford, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will face off against Carlson at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Marauders have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season. As for Edsel Ford, they will square off against Lincoln Park at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Thunderbirds are facing the Railsplitters at the right time seeing as the Railsplitters are stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
