Basketball Recap: Hilmar Falls Despite Big Games from Aaron Solorio and Xavier Silveira

Hilmar lost against Ripon back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Hilmar Yellowjackets lost 75-53 to the Ripon Indians. While losing is never fun, the Yellowjackets can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 967th, while the Indians are ranked 464th).

Hilmar's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Xavier Silveira, who went 6 of 11 en route to 19 points and five boards, and Aaron Solorio, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. That's the most points Silveira has posted since back in February of 2024. Juelle Lindo was another key player, putting up eight points.

Even though they lost, Hilmar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive contests.

Ripon's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Marcus Madoski, who went 10 for 22 on his way to 28 points along with eight rebounds and five steals. Madoski's evening made it 22 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ethan Baur, who went 8 of 14 en route to 23 points and four steals.

Hilmar moved to 7-14 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak. As for Ripon, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a massive bump to their 13-9 record this season.

Hilmar will welcome Ripon Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ripon Christian is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62.2 points per game this season. As for Ripon, they will face off against Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Ripon also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 58.8 points per game.
