Softball Recap: Everglades Wins Going Away Against Miramar

Everglades made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Miramar, but they still couldn't quite topple them. Everglades put the hurt on Miramar with a sharp 29-8 win on Thursday. That looming 29-8 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Gators yet this season.

Prenia Bautista was a standout: she scored six runs and stole five bases while going 4-for-6. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 2.2 runs per game. Vi Quain was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing four bases while going 4-for-6.

Bautista wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Everglades kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 21 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Everglades is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. Miramar is on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-6.

Everglades and Miramar will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next matches. The next time Everglades sees the field they'll take on West Broward at 5:15 p.m. on April 1. As for Miramar, their break will end when they face Northeast at 6:00 p.m. on April 15.
