Basketball Recap: Lake Lesak's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Windsor Academy over Piedmont Academy

If Windsor Academy was riding high fresh off their 56-18 takedown of Flint River Academy on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Knights came up short against the Piedmont Academy Cougars on Saturday, falling 70-46. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss the Knights have suffered against the Cougars since February 16, 2022.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lake Lesak, who posted ten points. Another player making a difference was Greg Brooks, who had ten points and seven boards.

Piedmont Academy was led to victory by Cam Moss and Corbett Crews. Moss scored 25 points, while Crews put up 22 points. With that strong performance, Moss is now averaging an impressive 15.3 points per game. Preston Newton also deserves some recognition as he scored his first points of the season.

Windsor Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Piedmont Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-3 record this season.

Windsor Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 57-43 loss against Georgia Military College on the 17th. Piedmont Academy and Bulloch Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cougars' defense better be ready for this one: the Gators have averaged an impressive 53.1 points per game this season.
