Football Recap: Oxford Comes Up Short

Oxford had lost six straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 1-2 to make it seven. They fell 7-3 to the Seymour Wildcats. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wolverines of the 7-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Ethan Murray threw for 183 yards on 13 of 26 attempts. Trent Therriault was his top target, picking up 91 receiving yards.

As for Seymour, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 3-0. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 14.3 points on average this season.

Connor Shea had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 175 yards. Shea is crushing it when it comes to rushing yards: he's rushed for at least 105 every time he's taken the field this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Oxford will venture away from home to face off against Holy Cross at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Seymour, they will head out to take on Wilby at 7:00 p.m. on October 4.
