Meanwhile, St. Martin's Episcopal waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Rams with a sharp 18-1 victory. With that win, the Saints brought their scoring average up to 7.2 runs per game.
Gianna Mandella was a major factor no matter where she played. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with three stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, St. Martin's Episcopal got a massive performance out of Molly Dunn, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. Another player making a difference was Sophie Miller, who scored three runs and stole five bases while going 1-for-2.
St. Martin's Episcopal was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .500. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Ursuline Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-7. As for St. Martin's Episcopal, their record now sits at 3-5.
Monday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Ursuline Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .434. However, it's not like St. Martin's Episcopal struggles in that department as they've averaged .573. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
