Basketball Recap: Deckerville Takes a Loss

Deckerville fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Peck on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to the Peck Pirates. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (59), the Eagles still had to take the loss.

Deckerville's loss came despite strong showings from Logan Martin and Ian Flanigan. Martin on his way to 26 points, while Flanigan to rack up 14 points along with five rebounds and four steals. Martin's big performance that evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Garza, who en route to 12 points.

Even though they lost, Deckerville was working as a unit and finished the game with 22 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Peck to victory, but perhaps none more so than Thomas West, who dropped a double-double with 14 points and ten boards. What's more, West also posted an 80% shooting accuracy, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Cody Cairo was another key player, to rack up 18 points.

Deckerville's defeat dropped their record down to 11-9. As for Peck, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games. That's provided a nice bump to their 10-10 record this season.

Deckerville has already played their next contest, a 63-51 loss against Dryden on the 19th. As for Peck, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 56-41 defeat against Kingston on the 19th.
