Baseball Recap: Wayne Academy Triumphs

The third road game was the charm for Wayne Academy, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Coosa Valley Academy Rebels on Thursday.

Jordan Shirley tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off two hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Caden Lowery, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, two doubles, and one triple. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. Cale Graham also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wayne Academy hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Coosa Valley Academy struck out eight times.

Wayne Academy's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Coosa Valley Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Coming up, Wayne Academy will square off against Southern Academy at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Coosa Valley Academy, they will take on South Choctaw Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
