Basketball Recap: Eaglecrest Takes a Loss

Eaglecrest was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. The contest between them and the Cherokee Trail Cougars didn't end well, with the Eaglecrest Raptors falling 49-31. While losing is never fun, the Raptors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Cougars are ranked ninth).

When it comes to explaining why Eaglecrest lost, don't look at Adaure Ozor. Despite the final result, she went 6-for-7 to rack up 15 points. The dominant performance gave Ozor a new career-high in points.

Cherokee Trail got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ryen Galloway out in front who posted ten points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Broadus, who scored nine points and eight boards.

Eaglecrest's loss dropped their record down to 11-10. As for Cherokee Trail, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-7 record this season.

Looking ahead, Eaglecrest will be playing in front of their home fans against Overland at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Cherokee Trail, they will challenge Cherry Creek on Thursday.
