Softball Recap: Canutillo's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Canutillo came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-7 margin over the Burges Mustangs. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 14-6 back in March.

Katelynn Quezada was a standout: she went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Alina Banda was another key player, scoring two runs while going 4-for-5.

Canutillo's record now sits at 16-9-1. As for Burges, their defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 15-14.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Canutillo is set to take on their familiar foe Chapin at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Eagles have won four straight at home, while the Huskies won seven straight on the road), something that'll have to change. Meanwhile, Burges will face off against rival Andress at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
