Basketball Recap: Loris' Victory on Friday Extends Winning Streak to Five

Loris had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 17.5 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They strolled past the Marlboro County Bulldogs with points to spare, taking the game 64-49. That's more bragging rights for the Lions, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Loris got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was NIGEL MILLER out in front who went 8-for-15 en route to 23 points. MILLER continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was JACOBIEN LEWIS, who went 5-for-7 to rack up 14 points along with six boards and three steals.

Loris was working as a unit and finished the game with 12 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Marlboro County only posted five assists.

Defeat or not, Marlboro County got some senior leadership from Justin Purvis and Isaiah Johnson. Purvis posted 12 points in addition to five assists and three steals, while Johnson went 6-for-9 on his way to 16 points. Purvis has been hot recently, having posted three or more steals the last four times he's played. Isiah Whitner was another key player, putting up eight points.

Loris pushed their record up to 13-7 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. As for Marlboro County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-8.

Loris didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 55-18 victory against Aynor on the 11th. As for Marlboro County, they have also already played their next match, a 50-41 loss against Dillon on the 8th.
