Basketball Recap: Bunn Starts Season with Victory on the Road + How To Watch

Bunn had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They came out on top against the Franklin Academy Patriots by a score of 61-54 on Tuesday. The score was all tied up 30-30 at the break, but the Wildcats were the better team in the second half.

Bunn had a senior duo take command as Isaac Bailey went 9-for-20 en route to 22 points and three blocks and CJ Kearney shot 46% from the field to rack up 18 points. Bailey's big performance that evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least 18 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Josiah Rice, who posted eight points and eight rebounds.

Despite the loss, Franklin Academy still got an impressive performance from Hayes Lewis, who almost dropped a double-double with 20 points and nine boards. Lewis is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in each of the last 11 games he's played dating back to last season. Jaden Lewis was another key player, putting up 12 points.

Franklin Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-2.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bunn will welcome Beddingfield at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Franklin Academy, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Roxboro Community at 7:30 p.m. The Patriots will be up against the Bulldogs' rather soft defense (which has allowed 63.25 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
