Softball Game Preview: Chandler Wolves vs. Desert Ridge Jaguars

The Chandler Wolves will be taking part in a tournament against the Desert Ridge Jaguars at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Chandler is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.

Chandler saw some tournament action on Friday. They fell just short of Arizona College Prep by a score of 7-6.

Lily Kolsrud made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 2-for-3. Cian Noli was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Desert Ridge, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Friday. They blew past Flagstaff 21-5 on Friday. The Jaguars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by ten runs or more this season.

Jacee Larson was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Brooklyn Parks also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Desert Ridge kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 17 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 15 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Desert Ridge's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-4. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 21.0 runs over those games. As for Chandler, their loss dropped their record down to 7-9.

Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Chandler hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.9 home runs per game. However, it's not like Desert Ridge struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 1.2 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.

Chandler took their victory against Desert Ridge in their previous matchup back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 11-5. Will Chandler repeat their success, or does Desert Ridge has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
