Softball Recap: South Central Wins Going Away Against Jacksonville

South Central barely beat Jacksonville the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Falcons blew past the Cardinals 12-2 on Thursday. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.

Somer Davenport made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Davenport was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, South Central got a massive performance out of Lacey Spivey, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one triple. That's the most hits Spivey has posted since back in April of 2024. Haven Roebuck was another key player, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

South Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Jacksonville only posted a batting average of .056.

South Central pushed their record up to 14-6 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Jacksonville, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-12 record this season.

South Central will head out to take on North Johnston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Falcons' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Panthers have averaged an impressive 6.8 runs per game this season. As for Jacksonville, they will welcome New Bern at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
