Recap: Memorial Day Matadors vs. Bridges Prep Buccaneers

The Memorial Day Matadors won the last time they faced the Bridges Prep Buccaneers, and things went their way on Saturday too. In a tight match that could have gone either way, Memorial Day made off with a 39-38 win over Bridges Prep. That's two games straight that Memorial Day has won by exactly a single point.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Memorial Day to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jaylnn Brown, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 14 rebounds. Brown is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of McKenzie King, who scored 8 points along with 12 rebounds and 4 steals.

Despite the loss, Bridges Prep still got an impressive performance from Zariyah Henry, who dropped a double-double on 10 points and 21 rebounds. Henry has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Alysia Neal, who scored 10 points.

The victory makes it two in a row for Memorial Day and bumps their season record up to 2-3. As for Bridges Prep, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Memorial Day will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Thomas Heyward Academy at 6:00 p.m. As for Bridges Prep, they will head out on the road to face off against Beaufort Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
