Basketball Recap: Jameell Purnell's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Bridgeton over Atlantic City

Bridgeton lost against Atlantic City back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bridgeton Bulldogs took a hard 70-54 fall against the Atlantic City Vikings. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 284th, while the Vikings are ranked 65th).

Bridgeton lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jameell Purnell, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 19 boards. That was a full 40.7% of Bridgeton's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's posted more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Tavon Chandler, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Even though they lost, Bridgeton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in January of 2024.

Khajuan Roseborough was his usual excellent self, putting up 18 points and five assists for Atlantic City. The team also got some help courtesy of Chris Finks, who scored 15 points and six boards.

Bridgeton has traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season. As for Atlantic City, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bridgeton has already played their next contest (against Lower Cape May), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Atlantic City will welcome Atlantic County Institute of Tech at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
