Basketball Recap: Custer Prenger and Ben Brown Secure Win for Smoky Mountain

It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Smoky Mountain ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They secured an 84-80 W over the Tuscola Mountaineers. Winning may never get old, but the Mustangs sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Smoky Mountain was led to victory by Ben Brown and Custer Prenger. Brown went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on his way to 30 points, while Prenger dropped a double-double on 21 points and 12 rebounds. Prenger's evening made it 14 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ace Prenger, who posted 16 points.

Smoky Mountain smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds in seven consecutive games.

Despite the loss, Tuscola still got an impressive performance from Gavin Chouinard, who went 11 of 18 en route to 34 points. The dominant performance gave Chouinard a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Ferguson, who had 14 points and five boards.

Smoky Mountain's record is now 8-6. As for Tuscola, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Smoky Mountain has already played their next contest, a 63-60 defeat against Franklin on the 15th. As for Tuscola, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 54-40 loss against West Henderson on the 17th.
