Basketball Recap: Elite Scholars Academy Victorious

Elite Scholars Academy's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. In a tight matchup that could have gone either way, they made off with a 45-44 win over the Greenville Patriots. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 43-41 back in December of 2024.

Greenville's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Jarvis Simmons, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds, and Marquel Deering, who posted 13 points along with six boards and four steals. The dominant performance also gave Simmons a new career-high in blocks (three). Another player making a difference was Nicholas Hurley, who had two points and four steals.

Elite Scholars Academy's victory bumped their record up to 5-20. As for Greenville, they are on an 11-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-16.

Elite Scholars Academy will have a chance to go back-to-back against Greenville: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
