Basketball Preview: Hoboken Redwings vs. Bayonne Bees
The Hoboken Redwings will be playing at home against the Bayonne Bees at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Hoboken waltzed into their game on Wednesday with four straight wins but they left with five. Everything went their way against American History as Hoboken made off with a 70-46 win. Given Hoboken's advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey basketball rankings (they are ranked 103rd, while the Bald Eagles are ranked 301st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Bayonne blew past the Lions, posting a 61-20 victory at home. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest victory Bayonne has managed all season.
Hoboken's victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 15-4. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.7 points per game. As for Bayonne, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-8 record this season.
Hoboken didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against the Bees in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, but they still walked away with a 59-53 win. Will Hoboken repeat their success, or do the Bees have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
