Softball Game Preview: Taconic Thunder vs. Monument Mountain Spartans

Taconic is on a nine-game streak of home losses, and Monument Mountain a three-game streak of away losses. However, someone's due for a change in luck on Wednesday. The Taconic Thunder will be playing in front of their home fans against the Monument Mountain Spartans at 4:00 p.m. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.

Taconic is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 28-15 margin over Pope Francis Prep on Monday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for the Thunder as it put an end to their three-game losing streak.

The team relied heavily on Kylie Duhamel, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, three stolen bases, and five runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Soto, who went 3-for-6 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Taconic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 27 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in five consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Monument Mountain made easy work of Pope Francis Prep on Tuesday and carried off a 14-2 win. The Spartans haven't had any issues with the Cardinals recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.

Taconic's win bumped their record up to 5-14. As for Monument Mountain, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.
