Baseball Recap: Brush Extends Winning Streak to Three

Brush entered their tilt with Highland on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They came within a single run of losing the streak, but they secured a 9-8 W against the Huskies. That's more bragging rights for the Beetdiggers, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Malachi Thiel was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in both of his plate appearances. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Dylan Krob also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Brush pushed their record up to 6-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing 12 hits in those games compared to only 4.8 in the others. As for Highland, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

The future could be bright for both Brush and Highland: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. Brush will look to extend Berthoud's five-game losing streak when they meet at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Highland will try to hand Jefferson Academy their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 9:30 a.m. on Friday.
