Softball Recap: Plant City Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

Plant City got themselves on the board against Armwood on Saturday, but Armwood never followed suit. They blew past the Armwood Hawks 22-0. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Hawks recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Kayleigh Gibbs was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. She also put up two doubles, which were her first of the season.

In other batting news, Samantha Raines was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. She also hit two doubles, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Summer Castro, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Plant City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 20 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Plant City pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 9 runs. As for Armwood, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-4.

Looking ahead, Plant City will head out on the road to take on George Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (George Jenkins 2, Plant City 1) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Armwood, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Bay at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
