Preview: Lyons Lions vs. Clear Creek Golddiggers
The Lyons Lions will be playing at home against the Clear Creek Golddiggers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lyons will be strutting in after a win while Clear Creek will be coming in after a loss.
Last Wednesday, Lyons earned a 38-28 win over Union Colony Prep. The win was just what Lyons needed coming off of a 68-22 defeat in their prior matchup.
Lyons had a senior duo take command as Marley Chase scored ten points along with eight rebounds and five blocks and Gemma Powell dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chase has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Gen Newell, who scored eight points along with ten rebounds and four steals.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Clear Creek, who are still winless after their sixth matchup. They were outmatched by SkyView Academy on the road and fell 52-15. Clear Creek was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 34-2.
The win got Lyons back to even at 4-4. As for Clear Creek, their defeat was their 11th straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-6.
Everything came up roses for Lyons against Clear Creek in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 as the squad secured a 68-11 victory. With Lyons ahead 37-2 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
