Baseball Recap: Cooper City Victorious

Cooper City won the last time they faced Pompano Beach and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cooper City Cowboys won by a run and slipped past the Pompano Beach Golden Tornadoes 3-2. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cowboys.

Kevin McCormick tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He is becoming a predictor of Cooper City's success: when he allows at most one earned run the team is undefeated (and 4-6 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Robert Scott Jr., who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two stolen bases. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in stolen bases. Dylan Goris was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Cooper City's record is now 8-6. As for Pompano Beach, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-7.

Looking ahead, Cooper City will venture away from home to challenge Golden Gate at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Pompano Beach, they will host Deerfield Beach at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average, (Pompano Beach 4.1, Deerfield Beach 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.
