Soccer Game Preview: Quincy vs. Granite City

The Quincy Blue Devils will head out to square off against the Granite City Warriors at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Quincy's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for eight straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

Quincy came into their game on Tuesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against Glenwood, falling 5-0. While losing is never fun, Quincy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois soccer rankings (they are ranked 182nd, while Glenwood are ranked 31st).

Meanwhile, Granite City didn't have quite enough to beat Glenwood last Thursday and fell 3-2.

Charlee Schwaller and Abby Knight scored both of the Warriors' goals, bringing their combined season tally to eight goals.

Quincy's defeat dropped their record down to 6-12-1. As for Granite City, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5-5.

Quincy suffered a grim 4-1 defeat to Granite City in their previous matchup back in May of 2024. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
