Softball Recap: California Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

California barely beat Amador Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Grizzlies put the hurt on the Dons with a sharp 12-2 win on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Grizzlies, who have now won seven contests by seven runs or more so far this season.

California got a great performance from Audrey Cotton as she pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jayda Crosby, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Reese Stiner was another key player, scoring a run while going 3-for-4.

California always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Amador Valley only posted an OBP of .385.

The victory (which was California's third in a row) raised their record to 10-5. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.3 runs over those games. As for Amador Valley, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. California is set to take on their familiar foe Dougherty Valley at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Grizzlies 3, the Wildcats 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Amador Valley will face off against rival Livermore at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
