Softball Game Preview: Southern Nash Firebirds vs. Eastern Alamance Eagles

The Southern Nash Firebirds will square off against the Eastern Alamance Eagles on Tuesday. Both teams are coming into the match red-hot, with Southern Nash sitting on 23 straight victories and Eastern Alamance on five.

Southern Nash is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Orange 6-4.

Meanwhile, Eastern Alamance owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 2-0 victory over Harnett Central.

The result came thanks to Delani Straughan's shutout, as she gave up just three hits.

Southern Nash's win was their 16th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-0. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Eastern Alamance, their win bumped their record up to 19-7.

Southern Nash came out on top in a nail-biter against Eastern Alamance in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, sneaking past 2-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Firebirds since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
