Softball Preview: Gridley Bulldogs vs. Truckee Wolverines
The Gridley Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Truckee Wolverines at 1:00 p.m. in Monday's first game. Gridley is strutting in with some hitting muscle, as they've averaged 6.1 runs per game this season.
Last Friday, Gridley earned an 8-5 win over Oroville. The victory was just what Gridley needed coming off of a 12-2 defeat in their prior contest.
Maddie Garcia made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Garcia was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alyssa Thompson, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, a triple, and a run. Another player making a difference was Janessa Delgado, who scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-3.
Meanwhile, Truckee fell victim to a tough 20-4 loss at the hands of South Tahoe in Saturday's second game. Truckee has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
