Baldwin and Atlantic Coast are an even 5-5 against one another since March of 2015, but likely not for long. The Baldwin Indians will take on the Atlantic Coast Stingrays at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Baldwin is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victor by a 13-3 margin over Mandarin on Friday. The Indians haven't had any issues with the Mustangs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
The team relied heavily on Jazmine Ramos-Merced, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Rylan Gray also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.
Baldwin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .440. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Meanwhile, Atlantic Coast hadn't done well against Mandarin recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Atlantic Coast never let Mandarin get on the board and left with an 11-0 victory. That looming 11-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Stingrays yet this season.
Atlantic Coast got a massive performance out of Audrina Bailey, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Lily Maguire, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Baldwin's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs. As for Atlantic Coast, their victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-1.
Monday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Baldwin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Atlantic Coast struggles in that department as they've averaged .319. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Baldwin took their win against Atlantic Coast in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 18-0. Will Baldwin repeat their success, or does Atlantic Coast have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
