Softball Game Preview: St. Paul Swordsmen vs. El Rancho Dons

The St. Paul Swordsmen will square off against the El Rancho Dons at 3:15 p.m. on Monday. St. Paul is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season.

St. Paul is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest loss since April 20, 2024 on Thursday. They fell just short of Saint Joseph by a score of 5-3. The Swordsmen have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Daina Munoz made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kailee Mejia, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, El Rancho suffered their biggest defeat since February 25th on Thursday. They lost 12-2 to California.

El Rancho saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Noelie Guerrero, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

El Rancho's loss dropped their record down to 10-7-1. As for St. Paul, they now have a losing record of 10-11.

Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Paul hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .342. However, it's not like El Rancho struggles in that department as they've averaged .368. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

St. Paul came out on top in a nail-biter against El Rancho in their previous meeting back in March of 2023, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Swordsmen repeat their success, or do the Dons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
