Basketball Game Preview: Marlin Bulldogs vs. Chilton Pirates

The Marlin Bulldogs will square off against the Chilton Pirates at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Marlin has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games.

On Friday, Marlin couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 49-22 blowout they got against Axtell. The Bulldogs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 27 points or more this season.

Meanwhile, Chilton hadn't done well against Bruceville-Eddy recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Chilton enjoyed a cozy 40-21 win over Bruceville-Eddy. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Pirates.

Marlin is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. As for Chilton, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.

Everything came up roses for Marlin against Chilton in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 65-23 win. Will Marlin repeat their success, or does Chilton have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
